This beautiful, bold sculpture was carved by hand from exceptional woods to capture the exhilaration of a great adventure, it portrays the reply to a call to blue water. This is a sizable sculpture measuring approximately 32" tall x 22" wide x 12" deep.
The ships hull and wave are carved from a single, aged block of bubinga, native to Africa. The sails are spalted big leaf maple from the northwest US and carved from a pair of large adjoining slabs from the tree's stump. The mast and boom are carved from vera wood, native to Central America. It is finely polished with a rubbed oil finish to bring out the stunning natural grains and colors of these fine woods.
This sculpture is an original, one of a kind, numbered and signed. The woods have some fine hairline checks which are not uncommon for these woods or for blocks of this size and age, they have no effect on it's integrity. The sculpture disassembles for shipping and reassembly is quite simple, attaching points are concealed as best possible so not to detract from the sculpture.
Pricing includes standard shipping within the continental US; it may only be shipped to destinations within the continental US. Please contact us if you have questions about this sculpture or to request additional photos.
